The Gene Daniels Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a male and female from both Apex High School and Panther Creek High School in memory of “Coach D” who taught and coached in Western Wake County for over twenty years. The recipients should embody the qualities that Gene valued: a strong work ethic, high moral character, a sense of community service, and a love of sports or physical activity.

Coach Gene Daniels was the athletic director and girls soccer coach at Salem Middle School, and was also the junior varsity girls soccer coach and varsity assistant coach at Apex High School.
